I don't often write reviews but due to this particular situation I felt the need. I wanted to use a UV filter for my 125 gallon aquarium but was not satisfied with the build quality/durability of traditional aquarium UV filters. I didn't like how they shorted, leaked, or were underpowered/powered for large tanks. So I thought this product would not be superfluous and just what I needed in terms of performance and great water skills. After all, it is designed for your home. I'm glad I got it right with my theory! I've had a terrible algae bloom. I couldn't look into my tank anymore. I couldn't even tell if my fish was alive! After installing it in less than 12 hours, I was able to clearly see the fish and other items in my aquarium. With conventional aquarium UV lamps, this phase usually lasts about 24 hours. I was also worried about the rise in temperature in the aquarium. I have researched that the average water temperature at rest with the lights on is 140 degrees! Even with the constant water movement, I was concerned about temperatures exceeding 83 degrees. I'm happy to report that as long as the water is running it doesn't raise the temperature and I still have to use aquarium heaters. I hope this review helps anyone who might consider using this product instead of a traditional aquarium UV filter.
