We have always used disposable butane lighters. We were trying to be more eco-friendly so we got refillable lighters but they were thrown out of habit and not refilled and there was no real way to tell they were refillable. This little gadget is a great alternative to matches and disposable butane lighters. They are electric and rechargeable. No butane to fiddle with, no refill bottles to remember to buy, no refills, and they're significantly smaller to boot! This particular model from ARECTECH is thin and cylindrical like a thick pencil. It has a USB-C charging port and will charge with almost any 5V USB charger. I originally got this for our outdoor campfire, which doesn't have a built-in igniter. This particular model puts your hand just 3 1/2 inches from the ignition point, which can be uncomfortably close on a fire, especially if it's ignited when lit. I'm keeping this one for indoor use and getting a pair of flexible necks. Campfire and barbecue models, as they are longer and more suitable for getting to non-standard places.
