I purchased this wrist rest/mouse pad after experiencing severe wrist pain, probably caused by overly long gaming sessions. After trying a few iterations of homemade solutions, like rolled up towels or a large bubble wrap in a sock (which kind of worked but was too cute), I settled on something professionally designed. This 3M bracelet did it. I haven't had another episode since I started using it 35 days ago. The pad itself is firm enough to provide support and feels spongy enough to avoid discomfort. When I press on the material it flexes about a quarter of an inch before the hardness returns. You can think of it as a softer layer on top of a harder layer underneath. If you're looking for something really soft and fluffy then this probably isn't for you. As for the so-called "curl" of the side edges, that's about 3/16" more lift from the table surface. Didn't affect my browsing or gaming at all. I don't use the edges of the mouse pad anyway, my mouse moves 1 inches on the mouse pad by moving from the left side of the screen to the right and I try to stay centered on the mouse pad when using it. You can always use double sided tape if it bothers you too much. The rubber base stays in place on the table surface, and even with all the activity I put it through, it hasn't moved a hair's breadth from where I placed it the first day. . The surface of the mouse pad has deteriorated due to my mouse ( Razer Deathadder) not discolored and I didn't notice any negative effects from the textured surface Actually I think it helps in my case as this mouse has super smooth teflon feet or something like that h at. It requires a bit of dragging so I don't always move the cursor past the intended spot. Happy with the purchase and would recommend. I have the large/wide version. Hope this works for you too.
