I use this in a J head bridgeport at work to size wear plates for injection molding tools such as materials like Ampco 18 and copper impregnated CRS, .250 gauge . "Up to .500" has absolutely no problem with it, I've also made a few 1" wide cuts (diameter of cutters) with it, cutting both P20 tool steel and CRS, and a .050" depth of cut. I run the tool at 1000 RPM for most cuts and 1200-1400 for the "finish" cuts. I recommend having a VERY hard attitude when using this tool because you should NOT be babysitting what it wants to cut. I always inserted and locked the pin fully into the head. Make the cuts as close to the vise as possible or they will rattle. I don't regret buying the cheapest one, maybe in the future I'll take a bigger model for face milling.
