As everyone has said here, my Samsung dryer is working but not heating. After a bit of internet research, I noticed that a broken element was a common problem with these guys, so I primed Revain Prime (aka Magic'd) for one of these villains. 24 hours later he was at my front door. So I decided to tackle this project myself. I called around and was told about $300 for the install - which seemed expensive, but there were very few "authorized" Samsung repair shops in my area and most places charged for diagnostics and crap. So I figured $300 could buy a lot of beer, so maybe I'll try it myself. So on a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate the installation a 3-4. I would compare the skill required to do this to safely assembling a child's toy and then installing a dimmer as the hardest part is taking it apart and making sure the dryer is unplugged. I actually found a video online of someone installing a dryer from the back, but it's not necessary. The front of the dryer is very easy to disassemble. The tricky part is getting the element box out and making sure the thermostats are hooked up properly. Quick Steps: 1. Remove the screws for the top (on the back of the dryer). Slide the cover.2. Remove the control panel screws. jump out. Disconnect (I had 2 plugs).3. Remove the front panel (top) screws. Slowly pull up and out and it will pop out. Here is also a plug for light.4. Unscrew/pull out the dryer air duct. (Note: Currently you can use an ohmmeter to test the element. The two front gray wires on the box are the ones you want to use. If the element isn't a problem, you can reassemble it and call the wizard and time save) 5. There is a metal box in the lower right corner. Has 3 screws and stand. Unscrew the screws and pull out the stand. (The stand has tabs on the bottom to secure it in the dryer. You may need to squeeze it a bit to pull it out. 6. When you remove the box, disconnect the wires from the element and the two thermostats. Be careful of the paint /location of the wires 7.Have a beer.8.Open the box,put the element back, then reverse the above steps If you want to mix them up,the metal screws may break the plastic. This is also a very good time to figuring out WHY the item burned out (I had) The reason these items tend to fade is the amount of airflow required to cool them.. Good luck! m, which element is burned out?Stupid Samsu ng.
