Slippery, cannot be tightened due to "solid " plastic parts

This seat does not allow you to tighten the handle of the "pins" that go into the bottom of the toilet. They are made of plastic and have a "firm" grip which, on my toilet at least, caused the seat to slide a lot and partially slide off the side of the toilet. At first it came off, and after a month it became much weaker and now I have no way to return it. It didn't work for me.
