Review on ๐Ÿ“ท Tamron SP AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di USD (A005) Lens for Minolta A by Bali แ Œ

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The quality exceeds all expectations, I recommend to buy.

One of the underrated Tamron lenses. I heard various complaints about this version for Nikon and Kenon, where sharpness suffered. In the same version, there is no stabilizer and, therefore, the sharpness may not have suffered. I also heard that on different FRs you need to set a different correction for phase focusing, then it will be sharp. But if you use it on mirrorless cameras, then they donโ€™t need it, which again solves issues with sharpness. My point is that this is the most affordable and very sharp telephoto 70-300, which works great with mirrorless cameras that support hybrid focusing through an adapter, and these are all Sony mirrorless cameras since the 2nd generation. In the secondary market, the lens costs a penny by today's standards. Most likely, they didnโ€™t use it much, since it often didnโ€™t work out to make friends with DSLRs. It gives a sharp picture with nice bokeh. At 300mm, it is sharp from edge to edge with an open aperture (maybe a little weaker in the corners), and if you find a clear option, you can even use it on high-resolution sensors from 42MP and higher. The motor speed is average, i. E. sports may not be filmed, but calm movement is generally easy, incl. in tracking mode.

Pros
  • Sharp from an open aperture. Nice bokeh. Low price in the secondary market.
Cons
  • Not suitable for SLR cameras due to autofocus misses. Not the fastest autofocus motor.
