We bought the Secura because it's stainless steel - we wouldn't use plastic to cook at these temperatures. Secura is a great addition to our way of cooking, but it took some work. For the first few months we had to make our own list of cooking times based on how we cut the veggies, how much we cooked, etc. We use a rectangular aluminum foil pan to cook the meat. For example, we used it for a small pot roast and it was well cooked and flavorful. I like that you can use both containers to cook one type of food in one and a different type of food in the other. There was one problem - the handle for the lid was poorly made. They use a sheet metal screw to hold it in place, screw it right into the plastic handle and it came loose pretty soon. They agreed to replace the lid but it would just rip off again. I solved it as follows - see photos. I have a #8-32 (32 threads per inch) stainless steel (the only metal you'll want to use for cooking) machine screw, 1 1/4" long. This screw is about 3/16" in diameter. I then removed the sheet metal screw, plastic, and metal washer and drilled a 3/16" diameter hole in the lid. I put a stainless steel washer on the screw and put the screw in the drilled hole, then in the cover. On the underside of the bolt I put a plastic washer that fits into the hole in the cap, another stainless steel washer on top of that and then screwed on the stainless steel nut. Hard as a rock. I suppose this might sound complicated to some, but when you think about it, it really isn't. We've cooked chicken, used it to reheat, and learned how to use it for a variety of cooking options. We have an aluminum foil pan that just fits in a 9 inch diameter skillet. (eventually I'll find a suitable pot) and everything fits in where you want to store the juices. Eventually, steam escapes from the hole in the lid and covers our cabinets, so we place a lid that's slightly larger in diameter than the lid of the appliance on the lid of the appliance and place the appliance in a large aluminum pan to catch the water. r, which condenses on the lid and falls down.
