There was no nut

Replacement sensor received normally. The problem is there was no nut in the kit to attach it to the lid. No problem, right? Just use an old nut, right? old nut 3/8" 16, (16 threads per inch) new gauge threads are metric! I don't have a set of metric stainless steel nuts to choose from in my garage do I? The picture clearly shows a nut where mine is We have 20 pints Green beans that we wanted to drink today, I don't think so now
