Review on SHIMANO Men's CT500 Casual Cycling Shoes by Sean Castator

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Clip-on shoes that allow you to walk normally.

There are very few cycling shoes that are comfortable to walk in. Many mountain bike shoes look like regular shoes but are too stiff to wear for long periods of time. You should really try it in person. There are few boots with an upper soft enough to allow reasonable walking and they are quite difficult to identify. It's CT5, DZR, some Pearl Izumi and 5.10 is all I've found. There may be others - more claiming to "float" but I've tried many and most of them were too stiff to spend much time walking. Walking and pedaling is better with *cleat in rear screw mount*. Usage: I built a light city bike for commuting and sport and wanted it to have the extra clip performance but not have to change my shoes when I get somewhere. I don't train for a critical hit and I don't wear spandex. You know you're wearing weird shoes, but that's okay - let's say 5% uncomfortable compared to regular shoes. Just enough to notice. Mine turned out to be small: I have 11E (width) US and 47 fits fine.

Pros
  • Cycling shoes with a great fit.
Cons
  • Only available in one size range, may not fit all feet.
