No Static Reduced Shock

Static can come from a variety of sources. I bought one of these to dissipate the static that usually builds up in any car while driving. Static electricity build-up in a vehicle is simply due to the interaction between the metal body of the vehicle and the air molecules passing through and against it. This tape dissipates static electricity in the metal body of the car very well and there is a lot less dust on my car as there is no static cling to attract it. This is good for me because I live in a farming community where there was a lot of dust to pick up. It's amazing how much dust has accumulated on the back of my tailgate during short trips! However, if you wear synthetic clothing or have synthetic seat covers in your car, you create OWN static electricity, separate from your car's static, simply by hitting the materials. Being fairly isolated from a metal vehicle, we generate our own charge through our clothing and don't realize it until we touch a metal object and pop! When I'm wearing synthetic clothing, I always touch metal somewhere when I get out of the car. This discharges me to the ground via the grounding strap. I still have a small discharge, but it's very small and doesn't hurt. It also protects you from an explosion at a gas station when refueling. Like other buyers, be prepared to explain to people what's going on under your car.
