I bought the WonderVeg first and sent it back so I can compare this product to something. ADVANTAGES: The suction works well. I have a SEALED GRANITE counter, so according to many reviewers it may not work properly if you don't have granite or marble. But see below for a possible solution to this problem. The device is solid and made of heavier plastic than many of the cheaper ones. I wasn't worried about it breaking. I've used it on tough veggies like carrots and sweet potatoes with no problem. It's attractive and with the different colored blade blocks you can tell which one it is at a glance. With a little practice, I managed to get a fairly even long strip on most vegetables. Zucchini is a BREEZE. CONS: I don't think any of them are perfect. Hard veggies still require some effort, but I didn't want to shell out money for an electric veg, and reviewers have had issues with it, too. There is no container to collect food. I personally wouldn't care. My meters are clean. But apparently it annoys some people. Handle. People complain that he has come off. You have to use some force to push it in the first time you assemble it, and it will snap into place instead of loosening. I don't want so many veggies to be "wasted". They have a long core and about 1/4 inch at the end. Yes, you can use it in salads, and luckily my Golden loves carrots, but still. Keep this in mind and buy more vegetables than you think you need. They also shrink a lot when cooked. This is the time for cheap shit. It COULD be more durable and well made for the price, but not only can "special people" make healthy profits, they need to make money. That goes for everything, including this one. So let's deal with that. SOME SPIRALIZING TIPS BASED ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE: I'm a mechanical idiot, so I think some of you are too, and I can save you some trouble. SUCTION PROBLEMS. Make sure your surface is CLEAN and DRY. Don't just drop him and expect him to stay. Use the gray lever. From its starting point, slide it all the way down and down. This provides suction power. Mine stays up like a rock but it doesn't seem to work on some surfaces. If you're still having suction issues, ANY spiralizer isn't going to get you anywhere, so either send it back immediately or, as one reviewer suggested, get an anti-slip mat (non-slip on both sides) and install it on top. I do not know if it works. You may just need to settle for a portable device or upgrade to an electric spiralizer. A NOTICE. YOU CAN RETURN IT WITHOUT SHIPPING if it was SOLD by Revain and not a third party. So choose one of them. Improper use makes it "defective" for return purpose.2. PRESSING THE SIDE HANDLE. You have to push this hard to the left while turning the crank. I saw the "Turn the knob turn" instruction and was blown away by the rest of this step because what idiot can't turn the knob? :) But if you don't press while spinning, it spins uselessly because the veggies aren't pressing against the blade. Harder vegetables require more effort. I've found that moving ALL your ENTIRE body to the left and leaning that way is a lot less work than just pushing with your hand. We've upgraded from portable so there's less work to do! 3. CENTER THE VEGETABLES ON THE SCRATCHING KNIFE. Easier said than done for someone like me. I looked the vegetable over, then the little round thing, and soon got tired of fiddling around. If you look at a carrot, it has a darker core, so you can just flatten it. But for other veggies that don't, just make a small hole right in the middle of that end, after that you can glue it right in place. To get used to something. Be ready when you let it play with different vegetables. If it really doesn't work for you, you'll soon find out and you can return it. But for people with mechanical issues like me, it often takes a little time to get better. I HOPE IT HELPS!
