I don't know about you but I HATE the sight of dish drying racks cluttering up the countertop. Worse than the ugly aesthetic is that they are very difficult to clean. I bought one of those ribbed silicone drying mats thinking that would be the solution. The silicone mat got slimy and I had to brush it often even though they only put clean dishes on it - oh and it also always managed to get water under the mat all the time so it got slimy underneath and also got rid of the watermark on mine Granite countertop - very dirty. I put it in the dishwasher to give it a good clean like I do with other silicone kitchenware I have and it warped completely. Then I found this drying mat which is AMAZING. It's not ugly because it has a very low profile (and if you don't want to store it outside you can just put it in a closet or roll it up to save space). There are no combs or posts to scrape or scrub. It stayed very clean even after a few months of daily use (unlike a silicone mat or traditional rack) but I love that I can just toss it in the washing machine when it gets dirty. It's very absorbent - I've had no problems with spills or drips (water doesn't get under the mat like a silicone mat does) so it doesn't mess up and my countertops stay clean. I wish I had known that earlier. I would save the money I wasted on all the other products I bought that didn't work. Also, the size is perfect. Other similar mats I've seen were much smaller and I needed a larger one because I mostly hand wash pots and small mats don't fit in large pots. Highly recommended, great product.
