Review on πŸš— Arkon Replacement Windshield Dashboard Suction Mounting Pedestal for Garmin nuvi 40 50 1450 1200 GPS - Upgrade or Additional by Joe Bottomkent

This should become a standard accessory for all Garmin GPS devices!

Garmin makes excellent GPS devices. What they don't make is a suction cup mount that will stick to the windshield for more than a couple of weeks. When I bought my latest Garmin Nuvi 3590 GPS Navigator I was immediately struck by its superior performance compared to similar devices from other companies. Since I wanted to mount the GPS on the front of the dashboard directly opposite the driver, I installed the system with plexiglass attached to an empty part of the dashboard. If you plan to do the same, make sure you don't cover the areas where the airbag is installed. In any case, after installing the plexiglass and carefully mounting the Garmin GPS, I was amazed at the excellent viewing angle I was able to achieve. In fact, it was better than the original factory installed GPS equipment. As it is very easy to remove the Garmin from the mount I will do so after each use. Regardless, the Garmin windshield mount fell off the plexiglass in less than 2 weeks. That's when I came across the Arkon GN115 windshield/dash mount. This product works so well it has been over 2 months since I attached it to the plexiglass and it is holding up just as strong as the day I put it on. This is an incredibly well made product that I consider essential if you want to avoid the risk of your Garmin GPS navigator falling off your windshield or other mounting surface. It can actually be a lifesaver as turning off the GPS system while driving can easily lead to a serious car accident. It wouldn't have cost Garmin more than a dollar or two to offer this as a standard accessory with all their GPS units and I can't understand why they didn't. The bottom line is that this simple device can not only save your GPS device, it can actually save your life.
