I was meaning to buy a trending stone after watching YouTube reviews but it's over $100. I thought I'd try my luck with that. It has the same steel body, electroplated diamonds, and the same grit levels (300 and 1000). At first I was afraid that this might not be true (like on an airplane) but even with a steel ruler there is no gap. Remember that before using it should be chopped to get rid of all diamond chips. I sharpened the old chisel for about 2 minutes on both sides, working over the entire surface. After that it was good to go. If you are not used to diamond stone, they are very aggressive. Only light pressure is required for application, let the stone work. I also recommend a good lapping fluid, not regular oil or water. I use the trend product and it works very well.
