I figured I'd have to go to the dealer to get them programmed. Not so. read review.

I have 2 VW Beetles and needed a spare key for each one. I bought these 2 packs after asking a local locksmith how to cut them. ($35 each) My locksmith was able to cut them but said he couldn't program them. I searched online and found some instructions but the keys didn't support the car after I started the car. I checked another site and found an extra step, tried them and they work fine. Here's how I was able to get these keys to work: 1. Check if the key opens the door manually. Put the key in the door and turn it to the left to lock the door, then to the right to open the door.2. Leave your cell phone at home.3. Close all windows and turn off all accessories.4. Put the original key in the ignition switch and turn on the ignition - do not start the car.5. Get out of the car and close the door.6. Insert the key into the door lock and turn the key to the right and hold it in this position for about 10 seconds.7. Return the key to the upright position and remove the key from the lock.8. Press and release the unlock button for 2 seconds.9. Press the unlock button for about 2 seconds - an audible signal should sound and the direction indicators may flash.10. Open the door with the key and return to the car.11. Remove the original key from the ignition switch.!2. Put the new key in the ignition and step on the brake pedal (that was the trick that got my keys working). 13. Start the car and release the brakes. Now your machine should work. Hope this works for you.
