I've used many of these cases on many different iPhones so this is my pick for great protection. When I bought the new iPhone 12 mini, I couldn't have foreseen that you would have to swipe up from the bottom to open the phone. Based on 7 I'd say it's about as difficult as trying to swipe from the bottom for shortcuts, except now I'm bumping into it every time I want to use the phone. I have to use my index finger, not my thumb. The boards seem a lot steeper than the commuter case I had on the 7, so I think that makes things worse. If I remove the case, the problem goes away. Because of this design conflict, I may have to get something else. I can't believe Otterbox didn't test stuff like this when they designed it, but maybe they didn't have access to a working model? (Purchased before release and installed on the first day of the new phone release) Update: About a week after the phone was released, Apple released an update that fixes the phone opening issue. You may have subtly realized that putting a case on the phone doesn't allow the user's finger to be detected on the edge of the screen. After the update, I was able to open my phone and use the camera and flashlight shortcuts on the lock screen. So it wasn't actually an OtterBox issue, it was an iPhone issue.
