Review on Block Tubes Ceramic Aquarium Inhabitants by Mark Sergio

Revainrating 5 out of 5

absolutely brilliant - I bought 8

I was looking for decorations for my Riparia (an aquarium designed to look like a riverbank). I keep small sea turtles. I read a pretty bad review which made me realize this is what I'm looking for. The one or two star rating was "It doesn't look like wood at all". I needed pottery that looked like a rusty pipe. I have sand and rust colored rocks complete with large roots and rust colored cinder blocks - it all looks like modern day Mississippi. This decor is fantastic - it looks like industrially rusted steel, but being ceramic it pairs beautifully with natural elements - roots, rocks and sand. It has soft edges and each one is unique (handmade) and a work of art in itself. I arranged them vertically and covered them with sand - my turtles had just hatched and I was afraid they are so small now that they might get stuck in the pipe. As I originally planned, once the turtles get bigger, I flip them horizontally to create a climbing ramp that looks like a pile of abandoned rusty steel pipes. I have 8 of these in a 6ft by 4ft by 250 gallon indoor pond - they are a very small feature in the corner for more visual impact when used. I would say you want a much smaller glass tank. I will be buying more for my next (glass) aquarium - they give such a unique feel to the underwater and above water environments they are trying to create. At first I was put off by the wait for delivery - I'm one of those people who build things on the go and I have trouble sleeping when the work is unfinished, so waiting a couple of weeks was excruciating and I dwelt on it Cancel button a few times. The wait was definitely worth it.

Pros
  • Fits easily in the aquarium landscape.
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
