I got these last night and opened the package straight away (packaging was very good btw). One of my friends had come with me so I gave her one. Of course when I got home and I had to try it :) I kinda scraped the striker against the long piece to make sparks and cleaned off some of the black stuff that protects it. Turned the striker around and whooshed it down the long piece. Wow! It was very big sparks! It even made a little smoke and I could feel the heat from it! I was excited :))) I know if I ever have to have a fire-making ability, this is THE thing. I read you can make fire, starting with cotton balls smeared with petroleum jelly and keep them in a ziploc baggy. Can't wait to try that!Oh, I also love that it came with a chain to keep the pieces together. It was plenty long enough to let the action happen without stopping part way down or something. The other thing I really liked was that the length of the spark maker was way longer than some of the other ones for sale. Speaking of sale, this is a really good price!
