When the duvet arrived I found it so hard and the material sucked. But after a single wash the comforter is actually very soft and I love how thin it is for summer. Thicker than muslin diapers. My baby likes to sleep with his face covered and has just finished changing and finds the blanket comfortable to hug while sleeping. Rest assured I will wait until she is sound asleep and remove the covers. The blanket is definitely breathable, I watch her sleep with the blanket over her face and she doesn't seem to suffocate. Love the color too, would definitely recommend to anyone who has a child that likes to sleep with a blanket covering their face.
