After updating the bios and doing some final tests on an Asrock x370 Taichi motherboard, I shut down the system and uninstalled my 1800x (this cpu will go into my daily driver system and free my r5 1600 cpu to be installed on my mother's PC). Warning! Be careful to move the AIO fan cable away from the CPU die and the cooler surface. I had a boot loop and an overheat/shutdown session. I was able to enter the BIOS and see the processor's temperature at 101C. Wow! lol no wonder he passed out. Anyway, after seeing my stupid mistake and reinstalling the AIO cooler, the next boot took ages and 10 minutes to boot Windows. After Windows recognized the processor and it was working, I started some tests. Well, I'm not a gamer, so again I'm comparing my video editing and production workload to rendering. With just one commercial project, render times have been reduced from 20 minutes to 12 minutes. it's an improvement of 40%. I can render some commercial projects up to 4 times per work session. So far I've been very happy with the performance, but I'm just blown away by the capabilities of this processor. Rendering a 1 hour 1080p video typically takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes. I re-rendered last week's video and that time was reduced to about 42 minutes. My productivity will explode. Spending $500 on a single palm-sized item can be overwhelming for some people. It can also cause heartache and possible remorse in buyers towards others. Here's the thing: if you're thinking about buying this processor, you should do some research. Know exactly what you're going to do with your system to ensure performance gains. If you are a gamer, this processor will play any game very well. While it never claims to be the best in gaming, it's definitely built for heavy workloads. What an excellent and easy upgrade for a system that will provide another 4 years of high performance. As a side note, I've been eyeing an AMD Threadripper build for the last 9 months. My work requires a large number of cores and threads, which allows me to complete tasks much faster. I had already saved the money to invest in the 2950x and was still saving for the motherboard. Since I earn my living with my computer, I need a professional workplace. Although it is interesting to order a new "toy", I hope that you plan something similar. It makes your shopping experience even more enjoyable when you "just know" that you've got a great product, at a reasonable price, and it will do what you need.
