Nice scanner

I received this and tested it with 2-3 books right away and am mostly happy with this device. The hardware is easy to set up and the software is intuitive and simple, yet very powerful. Scanning is very fast, about as fast as I can turn and straighten pages and press a scan button or footswitch. Total project time for a large book is less than an hour. English language scanning and OCR was virtually error free and totally secure, even for technical documents. He even found the words in the pictures. However, this is a consumer-grade device. The skewing and straightening software wasn't perfect; While this only affected the image, OCR had no effect. The lighting and, accordingly, the picture were also unevenly bright, I even tried different options on the side, top and additional lighting. Finally, despite the heavy base, the device is quite unstable in the folded scan mode. To be safe, I need to balance the base with a few pounds. This scanner doubles as a desk lamp and folds away when not closed, making it less intrusive and more useful to the average user. Although this device can definitely detect and straighten the edges of objects as well as smooth book pages; it's much slower when you do this. Additionally, it has trouble detecting objects that aren't directly under a light source or camera. In general, I am quite satisfied with the device as a consumer scanner.
