Review on Saucony Kinvara Athletic Shoes for Men - Black/Silver (Medium) by Jason Fanney

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Ideal for <10k runs and speed training

Straight out of the 50 mile break-in period but you feel confident enough to say these shoes are great for <10k runs. They are light and comfortable with a very small drop from heel to toe (about 4mm I think). I've been running shoes with a much larger drop for about a year and have forgotten how nice it is to have a more natural foot position. Disadvantages here will be for the sole. The rubber outsole is very minimal and not very durable. I can already see signs of wear and tear. This is also expressed in the feeling of every pebble and every crack on the road or pavement. I would definitely not recommend this shoe if your routes are on gravel roads. Walked some bigger/sharper rocks on a gravel road and really felt them. I think all of this will lead to a short lifespan of these shoes. Typically my shoes last 400-500 miles before I feel like the foam has degraded enough to warrant replacing. I'm worried they'll only last 300 miles or so before I have to replace them. but we will see. A big advantage at the moment is the instant foam and light weight. Sometimes when I need to push off quickly (crossing the street, doing interval work, etc.) I feel the limitations of the foam or the shoe. The faster I push down, the more I feel the shoe shrink, flex, or lag, resulting in an awkward gait. These shoes, on the other hand, are instantaneous and the transition from trot to sprint is instantaneous and they are actually best suited for fast running. training and speed work. Longer runs can push the limits of comfort due to the thin sole.
