The alternator was "used" and had "damaged packaging", hence the great price. The alternator was actually brand new and had a few cracks in the box, but what do you expect from a heavy piece? The generator is GREAT and I would not hesitate to buy a similar one again. It is installed on a 2004 F350 4x4 as a secondary generator (pictured below). I actually bypass the internal voltage regulator and use an external regulated regulator set at 29.4V to charge my very large lithium-ion RV battery. This generator will run continuously for hours at 60-150 amps (yes, it's rated for 120 amps).
