Review on Breville BSB510XL Control Immersion Blender by Micheal Wolf

I'm not thrilled - don't buy it for the whisk/whisker attachment!

I bought this unit 5 years ago and from the start I was never impressed. Power is very low when used with the whisk attachment; Even at top speed it only does a decent amount of mixing work - fine for making whipped cream, but no more. In fact, the whisk attachment is so cheaply made it looks like it's built to last, which happened to me. After maybe 20 uses of the whisk in 5 years, the whisk shaft shattered the cheap plastic base that was installed inside the shaft holder, rendering it unusable. Come on Breville, people have been making clubs and mallets for this type of implement for over 100 years, why did you feel the need to turn it into a disposable tool? it's fine for mixing drinks with the mixer attachment, but my wife didn't want to use it for cocktails because the ingredients need to be finely chopped for it to work - otherwise she'll have to struggle to mix everything properly; she finally ordered a ninja that she uses every day and that she likes. The only attachment in this system that met our expectations was the chipper; it's small but helps - although we use it so infrequently I can't vouch for its durability. Verdict: This device feels more versatile than it really is - if you really enjoy struggling with a hand blender then this one is probably as good as the others, but don't buy it for alternative attachments as it won't work that end.
