Pleated bags are trapezoidal rather than rectangular
These bags are not rectangular like most other commercial bin liners. They are shaped like a trapezoid. The bottom seam is only 17 inches wide, although the pockets at the top are 33 inches wide and 39 inches long (from top edge to bottom seam). The 17 inch bottom comes from the fact that they have a pretty deep crease at the bottom. So if you want to fit something like a 30" wide x 36" tall poster and the bag actually covers it, that doesn't help.
