I've had other models without magnets that broke while driving due to a heavy otter case on my phone, crappy products or bumpy roads. I was careful with the magnet but it holds very well! I drove 14 hours from Cincinnati to Orlando (and back!) with no problems. Also, attaching the phone to a magnet is much more convenient than fiddling with it in some kind of mount. I'm worried about something being left on the windshield if I ever have to take it off, but thought it would be easier to scrape it off. there than on my dashboard. As long as it lasts, I won't take it off.
