Provides better speaker control

Damping factor is the ratio of speaker impedance to amplifier and cable impedance. A higher damping factor provides better control over the speakers. Thick short cables help maintain a high damping factor, long thin cables do the opposite. 6 foot Silverback 12 gauge vs 24 gauge speaker cable: Cable Impedance: 0.019 ohms vs 0.313 ohms. 16x Better Overall Damping Factor with Lab Amplifier (HP 467A): 333 vs. 25. 13x Better Overall Damping Factor with Parasound 1000A: 275 vs. 24, 11x Better Depending on the amplifier and speakers, you may hear an improvement. 2 parameters that determine the properties of speaker cable: 1- Length, the shorter the better. 2- Thickness, the heavier, wider the better. Nothing else, the rest is snake oil.
