I have used this tool over and over to strip 2, 4 and 8 AWG wire. Easy to use once you get the hang of it. Practice sticking, turning the dial on the base until the blade reaches the desired depth of insulation. I held this in front of the cut wire cross-section so I could adjust the length of the exposed blade to the depth of insulation I could see holding it in front of me. If I were too scared to cut the insulation deep, I'd start with these wire strippers and finish with a pair of wire cutters. I removed them as deep as I could safely, then gently rubbed the insulation against a cutter blade until the insulation was free.
