The skillets get hotter than regular pans, so I found they melt easily. And I'm not a big fan of metal spatulas which discolor and can scrape the pan. So I bought these and I am very happy. They are cut thin at the edge so you can get underneath that pancake or egg. They're also coated so they have been very durable and easy to clean. Using the cast iron skillet and the wooden spatula, I am trying to avoid unacceptable additives to my food. These work well!
