We got one like this a while ago and installed the outdoor unit on top of the electricity meter outside (because it needs to be set up). It provides real-time tracking of your electricity usage, although in our big house we have so many bike motors in our heating systems and fridges that it's almost impossible for you to turn the lights on and off and see how the load has changed. The real weakness of the system is that the transmitter unit is mounted externally on the electricity meter and although the seals on the battery compartment and reset switch make it look weatherproof, we had heavy rain a month after installation and the seals did not work. actually seems to keep the electronics dry. The device died from contact with water (and did not recover after drying). While it was pretty decent, it only lasted a month so I'd avoid it unless your meter is protected from the rain. less weatherproof than the gauge itself just doesn't last long. Andrew
