Review on Sony MHS PM5 Bloggie Camera Violet by Alfonso Wilson

Bought a Sony Bloggie from Revain along with a high speed Sony Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX 8GB Flash Memory Card with USB Reader MSHX8G for a 3 week trip to bermuda The camera is very compact, so it could easily be transported in the pocket of an old cell phone case. In fact, it's smaller than the iPhone or G1. This made it easy to quickly snap a photo or video. The integrated software also makes it easy to upload videos and photos to the Internet. There are several pages programmed into the program, but I only used Picasa for photos and YouTube for videos. I recorded all my videos in 720p and was very happy with the video and audio quality. I only took about a dozen photos from Bloggie, but they were acceptable. It was so much fun and so easy to film that I didn't even think to take photos. Bloggie is not without its flaws. An external mic jack would be nice, but the built-in mic is fine with me. Oddly enough, the most annoying thing about Bloggie is that the USB plug gets plugged back into the camera. It always seemed to me that he would either never come back or he might break. The USB extension cable that comes with Bloggie is about 6.5 inches long; a longer one would be more convenient. The screen is too reflective and washes out in daylight so my next purchase for this camera will be an anti-glare screen protector. Once you've set up the camera, there's little to no documentation, so using the camera is a learning experience. Your videos will get a little shaky if you don't hold the camera firmly or use a tripod. But that goes for all camcorders, regardless of size, unless they have a steadicam or other camera stabilizer. The bottom line is that I really love this camera. It met all my expectations: not too cold, not too hot, but just right. I would highly recommend and would buy again without hesitation. Addendum: I took it on a cruise to Mexico and, well, damn swimsuits with big pockets! I jumped in the hot tub with it in my bag on the last day of the cruise! the Sony memory card survived with all my videos intact. Oof! Now I'm thinking about buying a Sony MHS-CM5 Bloggie HD (Purple) LATEST MODEL 5x optical zoom camcorder as a replacement.
