As much as I hate giving this back, I tried listening to an MP3 audio book in the car today but it wasn't loud enough. My machine plays CDs but not MP3s (it's an old machine) and I thought it would help, but it's definitely not loud enough, even at max volume. There is no extra port in the car so I have to use the speakers (I won't be driving with headphones). I hear a lot of what is said, but you don't want to miss anything for an audio book, and different roads, conditions, speeds, and noises constantly affected what I was able to hear.
