Review on πŸ”‹ AccuPower IQ338: A Powerful Fast Charger and Analyzer Tester for Li-ion, NiMH, and NICd Rechargeable Batteries by Claudia Green

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A good tester charger, but a bit "labor intensive " when performing update operations.

This analyzer tester charger, or at least the one that was sent to me, has only three modes of operation: charge, charge test and discharge test. Other reviewers mention the "Nor" test which does one update-reboot operation, but the one I have only does three operations. I have several chargers and my best analyzer charger that does most of what this IQ338 does is the OPUS BT-C 33100v2.2. Both AccuPower and Opus charge lithium-ion, nickel-metal hydride, and sometimes nickel-cadmium batteries. To update with the AccuPower IQ338, I first run a discharge test cycle and then a charge test cycle. . This roughly corresponds to the discharge-to-full charge cycles that OPUS performs with a charge recovery cycle. What I like about AccuPower is that after a test run it retains both the discharge and charge capacity of the battery and this can be seen by clicking on the compartment number used for the run. With OPUS you can look at the display and see what all 4 bays are doing; With AccuPower, you need to click on the bar above the slot number to see the status of each individual battery. This means the batteries may have completed cycles and you won't know until you click on the bar above the compartment number. I've noticed that AccuPower recently released the IQ338XL and I'm wondering what the XL (for the $10 extra) does as opposed to the basic 338. I also wonder if I got a "lemon" because my charger doesn't what others can write about it. I will say that while you have to go through the process of pressing the control panel on each individual bay to get a full view of the battery status, the display gives a lot of information including the internal resistance at a glance and overall I like the charger. . It doesn't match the opus I compared it to. Many people will like this charger. The Opus model I have is the same as Revain's BT-C 3400 version 2.2, apparently models with v2.2 firmware enhancement were originally designed to be sold in different countries(?). and the latest version with v3 is currently in short supply.
