My Epson HomeCinema 8350's original lamp burned out in just 1200 hours (rather than the full 4000 advertised) so I ordered a replacement. serves its purpose, there is a quality difference to the original lamp and this one. This was particularly noticeable when projecting a blue desktop for my Windows home theater; there was a strange color flicker. I also noticed that some videos played through Apple TV had the same effect. I very much doubt this bulb will last even 1200 hours and I suspect it will deteriorate over time. Luckily I was able to get a replacement from Epson, so I don't think I'll get a chance to test that theory. Luckily I didn't have to use this bulb for more than a week or two. I will still keep this bulb as a backup in case my new OEM bulb fails, but it will not be my primary. I suspect Epson has better, higher quality lightbulbs that cost no more than $250, but this isn't one of them.
