Review on WAVLINK Weatherproof Extender Dual Polarized Omnidirectional by Matthew Maxwell

UPDATE: Below you can see I'm having some trouble setting up the device. The production was very rewarding and everything worked out in the end. I have been connected to the device for several weeks and use WiFi daily without any further problems. I would recommend. Wavlink was easy to set up, but as other reviewers have noted, it often loses connection with your router. This means you can connect to Wavlink, but you don't have internet access. You'll need to disable Wavlink or access the IP address every time you want to use that Wi-Fi connection to reconnect to your home router. Doing this every time will give you a greater distance. I tried moving the Wavlink closer to the router thinking the signal would be stronger and more stable but it didn't matter. I also noticed that I can run a speed test on Wavlink and it drops around 13Mbps. After connecting directly to the router, I got 35 Mbps. So there is also a bottleneck effect. It didn't really bother me as I was just trying to extend the range of my home router for all home automation, which uses low bandwidth anyway. I think you'll be happier with a $60 device with the same results and stay connected to your home router. Save your money, I got mine back. UPDATE: Daisy must have read my review and recognized the problem I described when they contacted me for a solution. I added 2 stars for help even with no notice! So it seems that a firmware update is required to fix the lost connection. It took me a few days to update the firmware Daisy sent me, but I did it this morning. The upgrade was easy to do and I'm currently connected. I will give it a few more days to see if the issue is resolved and then update my review again. I still see Wavlink limiting the data rate a bit. I tested 45Mbps direct from router over Wi-Fi and 33Mbps WPS over Wi-Fi over Wavlink and this test was done with Wavlink and my home router 5 feet apart. Again, I'm still happy with the speed as my biggest concern is increasing the range. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 for issues and broadband throttling once I see it stay connected automatically for the next few days.
