If you're looking for a handy, easy-to-carry compact camera that's ready to use right out of the box and can learn advanced features later, this is the camera for you! It's small enough to carry in your pocket but heavy enough to prove its quality, comes with a wrist strap to protect it from falling, memory card, battery with charger, cables and software to connect to one Computers and photo printers, as well as manuals with clear and concise instructions on how to get started quickly and then explore further the possibilities of this extraordinary little wonder! Would you like more information? Read "The Reliable Ultracompact Camera" by Garrett Lowenthal. Nobody could have said it better - his review was the most helpful. I love it - I don't know how I ever did without it! ***** Updated: 09/15/08. I've used this camera long enough to tell more details! Extremely long battery life! But you might want to load up on a backup for longer photoshoots. Depending on the size of your memory card, you can record like a camcorder! Recording will continue until the memory card is full! I read that a 4GB memory card can store two hours (?) of video. Again, have a spare handy because you'll be addicted to photographing anything, anywhere! Printing photos is easy! If you don't have a photo printer or computer with a quality printer, take it to your local Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc. Remove the memory card from your camera, place it in a kiosk, take your pick. Burn (save) your photos to disk so you can reuse that memory card if you want. It is so easy! Print immediately or place a 3-day print order for 0.15 cents! These services also allow you to modify your photos before printing (framing, cropping, resizing, scaling and removing annoying background noise - the result is great thanks to 8 megapixels, color correction or red eyes that were not there at the time of shooting - rare , but can happen etc. ). Aim, shoot, hold or throw and shoot again! Or fill out your card and sort out the good ones later! It is so easy! I will buy another one for my son! FYI: Consumer Reports October 2008 (p. 33) ranks the Canon Powershot SD 1100IS as one of the top three compact cameras! Will keep updating! Have fun shopping Status: 6/2012. Since then, it has been updated twice to newer versions of this camera. They were fine - the extras on offer were good, but that little powerful engine still blows other people's minds. However, I highly recommend it among other things. I still like it! 6 stars!
