Overall I'm very happy with the Chefman slow cooker. I tried the simplest recipe; Roast a whole chicken. The pitcher heated evenly and cooked my food without my intervention. However, there are a few things you should be aware of. First, I highly recommend reading the handy instructions that come with it and highlighting a few things where necessary. Unglazed ceramic is different from other cooking surfaces and if you are unfamiliar with it this book will help you. You have been warned against exposing it to extreme temperature changes, such as B. Heating on the stove or in the griddle and then throwing in food straight from the fridge or freezer. Or put it in the fridge immediately after cooking. (I used to do this with my old cheap one all the time and mounted it on a stand.) There are also warnings all over the place, on the metal body and on the glass lid, that the thing gets hot. This fact is mentioned several times in the book. Once in place, lift by the handles only until cool. Also, the lid shouldn't fit in the oven even if the pan can, probably because the little handle on top is just plastic. gets hot). I plugged it into the outlet and kept checking until finally realizing the outlet wasn't working. I plugged it into a different outlet and finally felt heat rise while holding my palm close to the outside. Designer: Light would be very, very good! The meat was evenly fried and it ended up being tender and fragrant, which is what I wanted. I was very pleased. Another downside is that there are only three legs on the bottom, making it a bit unstable. That's not a big deal because once it's plugged in and cooking, you rarely have to move it. Still, stability wouldn't be an issue if there were four feet underneath. The final downside is the lack of a timer, and therefore the ability to automatically switch to a warm setting. When the food is ready, you really need to be home to take care of it. It won't wait for you. Adding a feature like this might not make it as affordable, but it will likely cost a few extra bucks. It washes well enough, only slightly stained. I think ceramic cookware is supposed to be a bit porous, so I expect more stains with use (especially with tomato sauce), and I don't mind if my cookware looks like someone might cook indoors. I'm giving it 4 stars because while it has a few design flaws, none of them really affect its ability to do its job of cooking food well.
