I received this gate tonight and while I haven't had many opportunities to use it and see what happens I know it's a great gate will be. My hallway is 36" and this gate fits very well without an extension. It's sturdy and I like its height so we don't have to bend down to open it. I have this to cordon off my hallway so my youngest can't can get out of his room and ask about the rest of the house before we wake up, especially as he's just learning how to open the front door, now his only option is to wake up and play in his or our room because he can't go through the gate Comes! Which he immediately decided to do. A few minutes after the installation he pushed his little car to the gate to get up and try to get the latch. He couldn't open it. He hung on the gate, pulled himself up and rocked at it (he is 25lbs and 2 years old) and tried to open it freely and he couldn't and it didn't tip over!I knew right away this would be a great gate.The gate is about the same height as my 4-5 year old and her k ann can open it easily, which is great because she's pretty self sufficient and can walk around the house if she needs to or go to the bathroom! Anyway, these gates are beautiful.
