Review on 📼 Sony SLV-N750: Advanced Full Chassis 4-Head Hi-Fi VCR for High-Quality Playback by Will Rahman

I needed a VCR to transfer videos so I could keep what I recorded in the 80's and 90's before the tape was completely degraded. I chose this because it's Sony and it seems to be the last (or one of the last) consumer VCRs they released in the US. The hardest part, of course, is finding something to play it on. My TV wouldn't interact - it has a 3.5mm A/V jack and I have a 3.5mm RCA jack, but there was no picture or sound. The USB video capture device I had didn't have drivers for macOS Mojave or Windows 10. I hooked it up to my A/V receiver (which I was kinda hoping to avoid because access to the inputs is a bear) and voila. Now, of course, you have to be realistic about picture quality, and if you haven't been watching ten-year-old home video for a long time, that's going to annoy you. It's a 480i counterpart and your TV quality doesn't matter much this time. Despite this, the picture quality produced by this device is pretty much the best you can get from a 15 year old consumer device. If we talk specifically about this device, the controls are intuitive and responsive. It's very quiet - a little quieter than VCRs as far as I can remember - and the tape loads and unloads quickly. Fast forward and rewind are also very good. I won't be recording anything on it so can't speak about it, but as a pure playback device it's great. The one I bought was used and marked 'very good'. It was a very accurate estimate. It was clean, virtually free of stains and stains. It even had a small Sony support sticker on it. Your mileage will of course vary in this regard.
