Measure seven times, cut once!

I was bothered by the reviews on this product, but I liked the drawing so much that I had to try it. This film is very thick. Much more than window film, made from the same type of vinyl as holiday windows. It also has a very nice uneven wavy texture that gives it a more authentic feel. I'm a perfectionist. I'm ridiculously meticulous and love boring work. I'm always looking for the best way to do things. After using window film a few times, I developed my own methods. It's harder, but I'm happy with the results. My method requires a cutting mat, rotary cutter, cutting guide, spots of temporary glue, and heavy packing paper. Here's what I do: IMPORTANT: Whatever method you use to cut, do it first! Unfold the film on a flat surface and place books on it as much as possible. Leave it like that overnight. This will prevent the film from curling during preparation and application and will be completely flat in place once on the window. I don't like how the film is cut at the window. This thickness of this film makes it particularly difficult to cut corners, even with a quality cutter. Instead, I measure the jar with thick wrapping paper or brown kraft paper. I use dots of temporary glue to hold the paper to the glass and then cut it off using the same method as the manufacturer described. The cut paper can then be peeled off and measured to get accurate and accurate dimensions. Using a disc cutter, a large cutting mat and a cutting guide/ruler, I simply cut the foil to match the paper. The mesh on the cutting mat makes it easy to keep the pattern perfectly even. The curved lines drive me crazy! I use tape to attach the mat to the table and more tape to attach the tape to the mat so it doesn't slide off when I cut. Then I carefully stick the film to the window. as much as stated. I spray on the disc, spray on the film and it snaps into place. Perfect fit from edge to edge and in every corner. I hand flatten the large bubbles and then use the flat edge tool on the small bubbles. I come back after 10 minutes and smooth it again, especially checking the edges and corners. That's all! I've had this film for 2 weeks now. It hasn't fallen off or torn off anywhere. It's perfect and beautiful! (By the way, in one of the photos it looks like there is a small gap along the bottom edge. There is no gap, it's just because there is a small speck of orange and white. I should have centered differently when cutting .) My method is probably not suitable for everyone. It's very tedious and I totally overcomplicated the process and not everyone has the materials I used. But it works for me.
