Finally. It seems like every company has tried to improve upon the simple rubber backing pad that has been around for over 50 years. I haven't found an "improved" version that I like better than the old rubber original. It's like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. One is almost hard plastic instead of rubber, another is rubber but too hard, third has indentations in the sanding surface, third is so hard that sandpaper can't get into the ends, etc. The last good one, that I had was made by 3M and was (manufacturer) painted dark green over rubber the same color as these. It turned out perfectly, but over time the flaps at the junction began to crack. I knew there wasn't much time left. I stumbled across this sanding block expecting to be disappointed like I do with all the others, but for $5 I decided to give it a try anyway. To my surprise, it looks exactly like my favorite 3M sanding block without the dark green color. If you compare them, it seems that they were made from the same molds. So good that I ordered a second one the next day.
