One of the main uses of this mic is to connect to an amplifier so you can move around the room and still be heard. The application I need the microphone for is slightly different. I like to make videos on vacation. One of the issues I have is that when the camera is on a selfie stick, it's too far away for the audio to be heard clearly. This microphone has completely solved this problem. All I have to do is plug the receiver into the camera's mic/audio jack and the mic is now close enough to hear the audio clearly. It is very nice that the microphone and transmitter can be removed from the headset. That way, when recording videos, it doesn't look like I'm wearing a headset. I can easily clip the mic to my clothes like a lapel mic and put the transmitter part under my shirt. The specifications of the microphone state that it has a range of around 50 m. My house is not that big so I couldn't check this distance. But what I've been able to test is through the walls from one end of the house to the other, and he had absolutely no problem picking up the mic at that distance. I also checked the volume controls on the microphone itself. And they really work. Although I really don't understand why anyone would turn the mic to the lowest volume. I'll probably keep it at the highest level. This way I get a very clean, clear sound. The microphone doesn't have many settings. Before reading any instructions, I simply turned on the receiver and transmitter, connected the receiver to the recorder and it was up and running in less than 15 seconds. I think I was lucky that there were already two of him. I then read the instructions and tried reconnecting the transmitter to the receiver. It didn't take long and was very easy. The last test I did was with a software product called Dragon Naturally Speaking, a dictation program that transcribes what you say. The software does a really good job with one caveat: you need a good quality microphone for it to work properly. I dictated this entire review with a wireless microphone with ease. Now I'm not tied to my computer while dictating. If you're looking for a quality wireless mic, this one seems to get the job done at a reasonable price.
