The product has been remanufactured ie it has been recalled or rebuilt using the same existing pump casing. However, the tolerance of the gears is not well tolerated and the pump makes a terrible noise. After bleeding, the system (air vacuum) worked fine for two days and started making noise again, it seems that the gap between the gears is in the acceptable range, causing air bubbles in the oil. So far I've tried two of these pumps and they both sound the same. .As a reminder, my car is a 2011 SES Ford Focus and there are no signs of leaks or damage to the steering rack. The only noise is the test of the pump itself. I run a vacuum test for leaks or the possibility of hose damage, but the vacuum stays the same on the 20" holddown so it's just the result of oil foaming causing it the diffusion gears lose their tolerance. Generally not recommended as a direct part for models above the 2006 Ford Focus.
