I was very skeptical about using gaiters but bought 2 for my mare for emergencies on the trail. I lost my shoe about 8 miles down a rocky trail, my husband took his shoe off, put this baby on and went back to camp! No problems with slipping, turning or rubbing! My horse got used to it in a few steps and we rode home! Even in deep swampy mud it worked great! I'm planning to buy a set of 2 for my other 2 horses as soon as possible, but just in case of an emergency. I still recommend regular shoes but these work great!
