Good protection of the hood locks.

First priority: protecting the hood latches from the elements. I know they MUST pass rigorous testing and be able to do their job while you own the car. BUT that doesn't mean they have to look good all the time. No need to wipe, spray or apply chemicals that will block the elements and just have another hard surface coverage. Second priority: looking good. I would have preferred to have solid black to match the rest of the fairings. But that "carbon fiber" trim was all that was available. They look good with it. Finally: do your job. I have a little nagging doubts about any exterior trim piece that is held in place by 3M tape. Especially on any vehicle like mine that needs to stay out of the elements. No covered carport. There is no garage. Only the scorching Texas sun in summer and freezing winters. This kit comes with a primer to ensure adhesion. I first wiped the hood latches with rubbing alcohol and then wiped them down with this chemical soaked cloth that doesn't smell like a regular alcohol wipe. Let's see. The fit was fine. They're pretty much in the right position. It wasn't easy getting all the red plastic backing off the tiny 3M strips. Finally, I used the tip of a knife, which helped a bit. But that takes time. It is important to plan your step-by-step approach and the right environment. Do this in the shade on a windless day with low humidity. After all, I expect them to weatherproof the hood latches and keep them looking good for a long time. Five stars.
