Good cameras but beware

I'm new to bikes. I've had one since I was 10 and that was over 60 years ago so I have to learn all this new 'stuff'. When it comes to sizing bike pans, you must take extra care to order the exact size that came on the bike, as even a slight mismatch will make your installation the hardest. I've found that the old size format is sometimes used, as well as the newer formats used today. I ordered heavy duty tires as I wanted them to be able to handle rocks and spikes along the way. These pipes are really thick and not easy to install. The one ordered was the exact size for the rims but fitting the tube into the tire and onto the rim would be a bit awkward. I ordered three plastic tire pullers from Revain and they work great. In fact, without the plastic parts, the installation would have been much more difficult, plus I could no doubt pinch the pipe and it wouldn't be good. The valve stem on two tanks fit easily into the valve stem hole on the rim, but two tubes had valve stem rubber that was too thick and took quite a while to slide through the holes in the rim. I've checked and rechecked to make sure I haven't damaged the stems and so far it seems I haven't. I think it's a manufacturing defect. I rode short distances on the new tires and tubes and got a good feel for the ride and the road. It was a much cheaper process than leaving them at the local bike shop.

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
