If you need a decent scanner for occasional use, this one will do. I particularly like the fact that no power cord is required. The supplied USB cable is used for both power and data transmission. It's also very convenient if you need to take the scanner with you, since you have one less cable to manage. The image quality is very good and the software automatically scans to a multi-page PDF if you scan one at a time. It can also scan to standard image formats, including TIFF, which is good if you don't want your image to be compressed. The most egregious flaw deducting a star is the bundled software. For some reason whoever designed it made the decision that it should scan to the last filename used for the PDF (even if it was already saved and done) so you have to remember to go ahead and do it rename it so you don't delete everything that you did before. . This is a very bad decision and doesn't follow any UI best practices I've ever heard of. I hope this gets fixed in a future release. The rest of the software is also clunky and illogical, and while ultimately serviceable, it doesn't lend itself well to a scanner that's clearly designed for casual and occasional use. Also note that the scanner is mainly limited to paper, photos and the like. Items that can be stacked horizontally. Large or jagged objects do not display well. This is not a disadvantage, because such a scanner is not intended for that, but you should be aware of it. For most users who need a decent scanner at an affordable price for occasional or occasional use. , which will serve you well if you are willing to spend a little time learning how to use the software.
