First I received 4 full straps, not just one as noted in the 1 star comments. When I first liked an item like this, I drove 11 hours to pick up a new car, so I wasn't in a hurry. It was a Jeep Wrangler with big 255x75x17 tires. After placing the straps on top, I adjusted the side straps on the bottom half of the tire. Note that they are shown in the image in the top half. I went to the bottom half so don't look at the photo. just below the middle of the tire. Thread the loose end through the ferrule, making sure the ferrule is next to the rod, and hand tighten. I attached the ratchet to the trailer body, threaded the free end through the slot and tightened. You could hear the tires falling onto the truck bed. Check the rear to make sure there is no pressure in the brake lines or hoses. Great ground clearance, and if not, you can adjust the trim closer forward to accommodate. After tightening everything up we also drove the trailer and double checked the forks - no slipping or loose forks. street and stopped several times to double check. Did 600 miles and the clamps were as reliable as when first used. I am impressed!
