It's very convenient to have a built-in display
Have you ever programmed an IoT device to crash when disconnected from the computer? The built-in display is a great way to show bootup messages like "connecting to Wi-Fi", "hibernation", "lost IP address", etc. And once booted up, the display is a great way to view small information bar. Check out my video - the screen is big enough for 4 stats. Lots of good uses for it!
